Tour Description

The best of Athens in a single day on this half day tour that also takes you to locally loved spots often missed by visitors. You will have the chance to visit all the famous sites of ancient and modern Athens on this comprehensive morning tour.

The Athens half-day tour starts for a photo stop at Panathinaiko Stadium where the first  Olympic Games took place in 1896. We proceed, passing by Zappeion and Temple of Olympian Zeus.  You will then pass the Athens Trilogy which includes the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. Continue passing by National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown soldier, Schliemann’s House (Numismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral and finally the Old Parliament at the Constitution Square, where you will have the chance to see the Change of the Evzones.

Continue the expert guided Athens sightseeing tour with a pleasant short walk up to the Filopappou Hill. Also called the Hill of the Muses, Filopappou Hill offers excellent views of the city and the Aegean Sea and some of the very best vantage points for photographing the Acropolis. On the top of the hill you will admire a monument dedicated to the exiled Roman Prince Gaius Julius Antichus Philopappos. After he died, the Athenians built a marble tomb and monument for the senator. The monument, completed in 119 AD, is twelve meters high and was built at the highest point of the Philopappos Hill.

After a short walking, you will visit the ACROPOLIS museum which is located under the south slope of the Acropolis and it is considered as one of the most important museums in the world. For the first time ever all the surviving treasures of the Acropolis can be seen together in one place, close to their original location. The Acropolis museum main attractions such as votives, artifacts of everyday life, statues from archaic period, Caryatids, and of course the Parthenon hall with the metopes, the pediments and the frieze will impress you.

The tour finishes at Thission area, a small settlement close to the centre of Athens and famous for the plethora of trendy cafes and bars. There you have the option to stroll around or return back to your hotel with our bus.
